"Angles" is a map i made on the Portal 2 level editor in early 2025 .
I had 2 objectives with the map :
-The first one was to make a map in less than a week with around 1 hour of mapping per day.
-The second one was to train myself with puzzle design, on making a puzzle with few ingrediant to stay the simple possible without being to easy
Process :
-I started with the idea of perspective/angle with the need to carry an object throught the level.
-With this idea i started to shape the different rooms.
-Then i designed the first room puzzle, with the precise shape and placement of the laser and other elements.
-Each iteration i made has to objective to simplify at maximum the puzzle (on retiring superfluous element).
-Once i was satisfied of the first room i add some detail to highlight some elements for the player.
-I repeat the same process of the first room for the last one (Precise shaping > placing stuff > test > iterate).
-When i was thinking on "how could i complexify this room" i know that was the right moment to stop, before making something too complicated.
Once the level was entirelly designed i tested it several times, ask some friends to test it (and i was glad to see than the first draft didnt had any "non expected issue") then i published the level !
