This level was a Level Design homework.
Objective : Create a level who could be in Styx : Shards of Darkness from scrach for a maximum playtime of 10 mins
- First I decided on the location and created the objectives of the level by listing them and defining the steps between these objectives.
- Then I made the blocking of the level to have an overview of the volumes and the global shape of the level.
- Once the volumes and shapes were convincing I built the prison, the ramparts and the buildings inside the prison yard.
- When everything was built and satisfactory I filled the interior spaces with coherent elements (beds in the dormitory, boxes in the storeroom, tables in the canteen etc.).
- I then added the AIs and set their movement patern.
- Finally I adjusted the level according to the AIs movement by adding some passages/shortcuts in the level or simply by moving some elements placed before.
It is possible to take several routes to finish the level : 2 ways to enter the prison (via the sewers or by stealing the keys) which can be discovered by the player via NPC dialogues.
And several possible solutions to explore the prison (go through the outside, jump on cages for example).
